Manhattan

The following is an account of my trip into Manhattan today: My day was extremely busy - I left home at 9:15am and just walked in the door about 10mins ago - it is 9:40 now.

I went to Manhattan with Fernanda and a girl called Erica (also from Brazil) who I met today. Getting there was fun but took ages. Fernanda and Erica had to take a different train to me because we are on different lines, but we met at Penn Station (Mid-town Manhattan). It takes me 35mins to get to Penn Station. We then caught another train up to Times Square, a shuttle across town to Grand Central Station and then took the subway up to 86th Street. We then headed west (walking) past Park Av and Madison Av to 5th street where we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

We stayed there for about four hours - it was amazing - I will definitely go back to see the things that I missed. Also there is a new exhibition opening on the 18th of this month which will be good - Nineteenth Century European Paintings and Sculpture. It was amazing to see so many well known artists like Picasso and even a sculpture that I studied in classics at school. Like I said, we didn't get to see it all so I will go back again.

After the museum, we went to Best Buys - like Dick Smith Electronics - and I got a cellphone finally! So my number is 001-516-410-4101 easy as. The 001 is for USA, the 516 is for NYC and then the rest is my number.

Ok so I then caught the subway back to Grand Central Station, a shuttle to Times Square, a train to Penn Station and then another train back to New Hyde Park. phew!

I got off the train at 6:50 and walked up to the church for their Sat Night service. It was nice - very low key and only goes for 1 hour - from 7-8.

I then walked home and found that the block party was still in full swing so I met a few of the neighbours and some of Thayra and Kevin's friends. I excused myself at half 9 because I'm shattered!

So that's my day. Hope you are all having a great weekend also!!!!

These photos are just a few of my favourite items that I saw and their descriptions. I took about 100 photos - that should tell you how amazing the museum was!
